Sri Sai College of Dental Surgery is a dental school of international standards, located on a 30 acre campus with a panoramic lake view and serene atmosphere on the foothills of Vikarabad town – an hour drive from Hyderabad city.
Started in 2001, SSCDS has had an eventful growth and has now become known as one of the best dental colleges for BDS and MDS, offering MDS courses in all 9 specializations. The courses are supplemented by medical departments dealing with Basic Medical sciences and a 100 bedded Hospital to teach General Medicine and General Surgery to BDS students (as per statutory requirements). The hospital also supports the surgical needs of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department services (Operation theaters, ICU etc.,).
The college facilities include a vast auditorium with seating capacity of 500 and with all infrastructure for cultural and educative programmes, world class library with latest books & international journals, all preclinical and clinical departments with latest equipments and materials, laboratories, lecture/seminar halls providing an excellent ambience for the students/participants. Provision of separate hostels for boys/girls and guest rooms for the faculty with reading, internet and recreation facilities providing a comfortable residential stay for everyone.
The college is involved in extensive Community work and was the nodal centre for Oral Health Survey conducted by the Dental Council of India, and has also organized National conferences from time to time involving departments of Community Dentistry, Oral Medicine and Radiology and Conservative Dentistry and Endodontology. These events brought a brilliant gathering of National and International experts who explored scientific and academic matters. SSCDS also has the distinction of having a collaborative agreement for clinical research with Boston University, Goldman school of Dentistry. This college is also recognised as an affiliate center for distance education in Implantology by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

SSCDS has been extending modern advanced dental care at most affordable rates and most often involving no payment. Notable work in Conscious sedation, cleft surgeries, facial surgeries by renowned specialists in the field are the special areas where we have claimed a modicum of success and satisfaction. A number of blood donation events to help Thalassemia and Sickle cell anemia patients, 30 sessions of BLS training and eye donations pledged by faculty and students have been our way of returning our debt to the society which made us what we are today. So far umpteen batches of BDS and MDS students have graduated from the college. Some of them have joined Government service, PG programmes in institutions abroad and some have settled in private practice. Starting a Dental college in a rural, sparsely populated area was a daunting task. Such an endeavour had its own problems. Repeated power breakdowns, non-compliant rural patients who are not aware of the dental appointment system and diversity of students admitted to BDS course were some of the obstacles which the institute had to overcome. While we succeeded in certain academic and health domains, we did have our limitations and shortcomings. Research is one area we are looking into develop & nurture. We are constantly looking, beyond academic research, to build on collaborations, liaison with trade, patents and winning some prestigious research grants like from ICMR, WHO and DBT. Since we have achieved a modicum of academic success, our next target is research and this would be our mantra in the future.
